Office of the Language Commissioner campaigns in the Municipality of Mitrovica

27.09.2017

The Office of the Language Commissioner (OLC), in cooperation with the Organization for Security and Cooperation – Mission in Kosovo, upon marking the European Day of Languages, has organized an activity for promoting this day at the centre of Mitrovica. This activity was attended by the Deputy Mayor for Communities from the Municipality of Mitrovica, Mr. Eroll Zekerija.

During this activity, the representatives of the Office of the Language Commissioner (OLC) discussed with many citizens in order to inform them of their rights of language and also increase citizens and institutions’ awareness regarding the rights of language, thereby supporting the effective implementation of the law on use of official language.

During discussions with numerous citizens, the representatives of the OLC provided necessary information with regard to the right of communicating, as well as receiving services and public documents issued by the institutions in their official language.
On this occasion, the OLC has distributed promotional materials with the motto “Your language is your right”.

Office of the Language Commissioner was established in April 2012 under auspices of the  Office of the Prime Minister, pursuant to Regulation br.07/2012. The Office is mandated to oversee the implementation of the law on languages, works with institutions to improve the implementation of the law and promote and protect the right on the use of the language of all communities in Kosovo.
